When we talk about contemporary homes the mind automatically conjures up images of sleek interiors clean straight lines cubic forms and a sense of textural monotony. But in Texas moves away from this beaten path as this relaxing and lavish family home tries to combine a healthy dose of rustic elegance with modern comfort and aesthetics.
Designed by GO Logic passive solar gain was one of the main aspects of the structural design and this was done without impeding the flow of natural light throughout the residence. Offering unabated views of the Cousins River estuary and the pin forest around it a covered walkway links the main house with the garage.
Inspired by the traditional earthen houses in the region the structure of the house is deceptively simple and traditional yet it offers all the modern comforts one could wish for. A marriage between contrasting styles and architectural principles life here is all about being close to nature.
On the inside it is timber that still holds sway even as the entire house is divided into three distinct zones – the parents’ retreat the kids’ rooms and the common living area that overlooks the pool and wooden deck. The ambiance inside the house is modern coastal with serenity infused into the overall design of each room using neutral hues and wooden warmth.
Designed by Colle-Croce the beautiful family residence is mainly clad in metal and concrete with both materials bringing plenty of textural variance and shaping a unique façade. It is the lower half of the structure that is made up of concrete and a steel structure covered in metallic sheets sits on top of this sturdy base.
While the concrete base of the stylish 5-bedroom ski cabin is less obvious from a distance what is more discernable is the exterior draped in dark tar-treated wood siding. This allows the dreamy getaway to blend into the dense forest in the backdrop after sunsets and gives it a more natural alpine vibe.
Designed by Turnbull Griffin Haesloop Architects and located in Sonoma County the luxurious residence is nestled on a lot that overlooks magnificent oaks and green meadows. It also holds a natural spring that flows into a beautiful pond. This is paradise wine country-style!
