Glass walls coupled with wooden slats bring with them a sense of privacy without hindering the flow of light while the existing upgraded Victorian house at the front is given a smart facelift. Three bedrooms along with a bathroom are nestled in this part of the house even as the top level holds the master bedroom terrace and a spacious library.
The home was built around an already present man-made pond and the effort was to ensure that the wild landscape was as undisturbed as possible both during and after the construction. The main 1650-square-foot residence has a secluded entrance and contains the living area kitchen dining area and the master bedroom.
Nothing seems out of place here with the entry leading to the spacious living area that is filled with a gray sectional matching chairs and décor that is understated. An entertainment zone and open bookshelf flank the living area on one side even as the stairs leading to the bedroom sit on the opposite side. Large windows blinds and curtains combine to usher in filtered sunlight as shadows and light alter the dynamics of the room with the changing time and seasons.
Designed by Ola Studio a series of timber beams act as a pergola of sorts while a simple deck extends the living space further into the rear yard. The new extension contains the new living space connected with the garden a smart modern kitchen and an open dining area.
Designed by Colle-Croce the beautiful family residence is mainly clad in metal and concrete with both materials bringing plenty of textural variance and shaping a unique façade. It is the lower half of the structure that is made up of concrete and a steel structure covered in metallic sheets sits on top of this sturdy base.
When it comes to the design of modern homes and retreats maximizing the view is increasingly becoming the primary concern of both homeowners and architects. Even urban apartments packed into contemporary skyscrapers are becoming all about the glittering view of the city skyline outside the window.
Inspired by the traditional earthen houses in the region the structure of the house is deceptively simple and traditional yet it offers all the modern comforts one could wish for. A marriage between contrasting styles and architectural principles life here is all about being close to nature.
