The outdoor living experience in the past decade has become far more luxurious and fun in the last few years with outdoor furniture and design matching the beauty and comfort of living room décor. It is barely a surprise then that homeowners are increasingly demanding dwellings that blur the traditional boundary between the interior and the landscape that surrounds the house creating a seamless indoor-outdoor interplay. Nestled in a lovely green neighborhood of Brazil the is no different as Lab Arquitetos transformed this 50s home into a modern masterpiece that encourages you to spend more time outside than indoors!
Much of the original home was poorly lit and filled with awkward spaces and unnecessary internal partitions that blocked any flow of natural light. One of the first things that the architects did was to completely re-imagine the interiors and create a new floor plan where the old living room and entrance were transformed into the main bedroom and the chamfered corners were utilized to the hilt. The new living space and entrance are connected with the re-envisioned bedroom using a painted sliding door that blends into the walls that surround it!
While the concrete base of the stylish 5-bedroom ski cabin is less obvious from a distance what is more discernable is the exterior draped in dark tar-treated wood siding. This allows the dreamy getaway to blend into the dense forest in the backdrop after sunsets and gives it a more natural alpine vibe.
Much of this is achieved using a beautiful blend of stone and glass on the outside that marries two contrasting elements in a pleasing fashion. Designed by Vanguard Studio this Spanish Oaks home is as much about the outdoors as it is about the interior!
Designed by GO Logic passive solar gain was one of the main aspects of the structural design and this was done without impeding the flow of natural light throughout the residence. Offering unabated views of the Cousins River estuary and the pin forest around it a covered walkway links the main house with the garage.
